28th July, 2012, Washington DC: The United States Senate has passed a resolution asking the Obama government to designate Haqqani network as a terrorist group. The resolution comes just after United States House of Representatives passed the Haqqani Network Terrorist Designation Act earlier this month.
The bill was passed last year, but again the Senate has to pass it as the house made some alterations in it. After the amended version passed by US Senate; now it needs US President Barack Obama’s signature to make it a law.
Congressman Mike Rogers told that this is really an important development as both the House and the Senate have spoken that the US President must call Haqqani Network as a foreign terrorist organization. Haqqani Network is engaged in terror acts in Afghanistan. They plot and kill US soldiers and they also harm Afghan civilian.
