8th June, 2012, United Nations: On Thursday, Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of United Nations, warned of a full-bore civil unrest in Syria. Kofi Annan, the international mediator, told that it was time to come forward and pressurized Syria to stop violence.
The diplomats of the Western Security Council told that the message from Ban and Annan at the UN was very clear as this is the perfect time to impose sanctions on Assad’s government.
While speaking at the Security Council, he told reporters that the people in Syria are bleeding. “They are angry. They want peace and dignity. Above all, they all want action.”
“The danger of a civil war is imminent and real, terrorists are exploiting the chaos.” added Ban Ki-moon. Both Kofi Annan and the Secretary-General of United Nations condemned the reported carnage in which around 78 people have been killed.
At a session at the 193 nation General Assembly, Ban Ki-moon told that “We condemn this unspeakable barbarity and renew our determination to bring those responsible to account.”
