Turkey set to relax headscarf ban

Turkey’s government is expected to lift a decades old ban on Islamic head scarves in universities on Saturday in a significant victory against the secular establishment. Erdogan said, “We will end the sufferings of our girls at university gates”, on Thursday in reference to pious female students who have been forced to remove their head scarves at the entrance to campuses. Some have attended classes wearing wigs.

  1. The EU was right in keeping Turkey out of the EU. Turkey, culturally and ideologically, will never fit into Europe. It has more in common with the Arab world. After the scarf in the universities, they will next have scarfs and burkas in schools, the work place, and in public. Soon the Shariah laws will replace the civil laws. Just wait and watch.
