The airplane was owned by Dana Air, a domestic carrier of Nigeria. The plane was coming from Abuja. After that accident, local police practiced truncheons to beat the onlookers as they were making way for rescue operations. The crowd was very large and ambulances were not able to get through that. A taximan told that the crowd seems crazy; the rescuers could not even get access.

Witnesses told that the airplane hit a building near the Agege suburb and burst into flames. There were several explosions after the plane crashed. The moment was very terrifying and everyone was very confused. Smoke inflated from the roof as well as the windows of the building. Local inhabitants attempted to climb on the walls and try to see what happened. Neither the civil aviation authority nor Dana Air commented on the incident.
