Pakistan needs evidence to act against Hafiz Saeed, says Gilani

9th April, 2012, Lahore: Yousuf Raza Gilani, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, admitted that the Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed is really an issue in the peace process between India and Pakistan. On Sunday, in Lahore, while speaking to a group of journalists, he also revealed that Pakistan required strong evidence to charge him under the law. He also added that on 16th April, when the Interior and Home Secretaries of India and Pakistan meet, they will discuss this issue.gilani 2

Last week, United States declared a bounty of $10 million for the Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed. Few days back, in the parliament, Pakistan Prime Minister told that this issue is an ‘internal issue’ of Pakistan. Any evidence against Hafiz Saeed must be brought to Pakistan so that the court can examined.

Yousuf Raza Gilani told that peace between these two countries must prevail for the interest of these two nations as well as the region. He and India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are determined to bring peace and stability in this region. They will all necessary steps towards stability and peace.

He added that President Zardari’s private visit to India will help to improve their bilateral relations and Gilani also believes that all issues including Kashmir can be resolved through dialogue.
