ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced on Tuesday as a humanitarian gesture that their country would release 100 Indian fishermen that are presently being held in Pak prisons on December 24.

According to official statement, PM Gilani directed the Interior Ministry of making arrangements for the release and repatriation of the hundred Indian fishermen.

The Pak government also proposed for the revival of bilateral Judicial Commission on Prisoners for addressing the prisoners’ problems and for the fishermen that are being held in jails in both the countries.

In the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, the Judicial Commission has not met since then. The Judicial Commission had earlier taken several steps for speedy release of the prisoners and had also worked to resolve their problems.
