JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia has lofted the tsunami warning that was issued after there were two strong earthquakes rattle in the nearby Papua New Guinea.
U.S. Geological Survey has said the first one was magnitude 6.9, while there was a second one half hour later with a magnitude 6.8. Though there has been no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Papua New Guinea is located on the Pacific Ocean’s “ring of fire,” where earthquakes of such magnitude are relatively common.
