Francois Hollande stated that he and the US President have similar view on Iran as well as several other global issues. In a joint press conference at the White House, the new French President told that he reminded his American counterpart that he has promised the people of France that by 2012, French combat forces will be withdrawn from Afghanistan. He also added that they will support Afghanistan in a different way. They will look out for different format and all these will be done with proper understanding with all the key allies.

Obama, the US President, told that they agreed that even as they transition out of a combat phase in Afghanistan that it is important that they sustain their commitment to helping Afghans build security and continue down the path of development. Much of their dialogue centred regarding the eurozone. Both the leaders think that the eurozone crisis is not only an important issue for the people of Europe, but also has an impact to the world economy. They are also looking ahead to discuss this matter with other G8 leaders.
