Forced marriage can be declared void
Islamic Scholars said that a girl has the full right to choose her husband & if forced to marry against her wish, she can declare the marriage void. Islamic scholars said that a girl cannot be forced to marry. The decision was taken at a meeting which was attended by the members of AIMPLB under the banner of (IFA) Islamic Fiqh Academy.
In meeting they decided that in Islam, the girl has every right to marry the boy of her choice & her parents cannot impose their decision on her. General Secretary of IFA Amin Usmani said, “The Sharia gives girls the right to choose her future husband”. It is “total unjustice” to force a girl to marry a boy, whom she doesn’t like.
The decision further said that if a girl was forced to marry by her parents or any one against her wish, she can declared the marriage void.
