27th September, 2013, Peshawar: On Friday, a bomb tore through a bus that was carrying workers in Pakistan’s northwest region casting doubts over peace talks. Recently, Pakistan political parties, backed the suggestion of peace talks with the Taliban insurgents. According to reports, at least 18 people lost their lives in this incident. According to reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police reported that the insurgents planted a remote controlled bomb on the bus. The power of the bus was so heavy that the bus was not recognizable. The bodies of the victims were thrown off the bus by the impact of the blast.
Local television channels reported that the militants’ target was government staffs. The bus was going to Charsadda town when the incident took place. Reports suggest that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government hired the bus to take workers home from work.
The northwestern region in Pakistan has always been a strong semi-autonomous tribal belt and a safe haven for Taliban insurgents. This region has been the center of Taliban insurgency for a very long time aiming security forces, government officials as well as civilians.
On Sunday, two suicide bomb assaults rocked a churched killing 82 people.
