11th June, 2012, Jos and Biu (Nigeria): On Sunday, two churches have been attacked in Nigeria. Witnesses and officials told that at least 4 people have been killed and more than dozen have been wounded in these attacks.
Till now, no group has claimed the responsibility for these attacks in Biu and Jos in Borno, a northeastern state of the country, but government officials are sensing that the attacks are being carried out by a radical Islamist group called Boko Haram that has executed several attacks in spite of heavy army presence in this part of Nigeria.
A spokesperson of the state police told that in Jos, the bomber rammed toward the Evangelical Church Winning All chapel campground and detonated the explosives nearby. A part of the building collapsed because of the shock wave of the blast. Angry people surrounded the place in retaliatory violence against Muslims.
A military spokesperson told that in Biu, an armed man opened fire during a service at a nearby church. A worshipper and an usher were killed with several injured.
Borno State police commissioner told that the officers have began investigating. Reports also suggest that Churches throughout Nigeria will now get extra police and military protection.
