A K Antony, the defence minister said today that the Taliban that are operating in Pak soil is a “real threat” to India, the region and also to the world.

He said to the media on the sidelines of the two-day Unified Commanders Conference, “The Taliban are a threat to world peace, our region and a real threat to India.” He even expressed concern over the situation in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan is in turmoil and they are very concerned about it. He added that they are trying to convince Pakistan in order to take strict action against anti-India elements operating from there. He said further to the reporters that India could not afford to lower its guard along its western border, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.

A K Antony also told that he will be discussing the security scenario in the South Asian region with James Jones, the visiting US National Security Advisor, on Friday.
