12th July, 2012, Lahore: On Thursday, armed militants gunned down 9 police personnel in a densely populated place in Lahore, Pakistan. According to reports, 8 more police personnel were also seriously injured in this attack. The assaulters were armed with grenades, pistols and rifles. They came in 3 motorbikes and a car.
All the policemen, who belonged to prison department, came to this city for training purpose. Local police chief had already visited the scene and he told reporters that thirty police personnel took that house in rent and a group of ten militants attacked the house. First they killed the guard who were staying at the house’s main gate and then they went to other floors.
Officials also revealed that bomb disposal team has already reached the place to defuse a grenade that did not explode. Rescue workers have also reached the scene.
Recently, after Pakistan government reopened NATO supply routes, extremist groups had warned that they would execute several attacks if the routes are not closed. Till now, no extremist groups have taken the responsibility for this assault.
