18th August, 2012, Jakarta: On Saturday, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit thirty five miles south – east of Palu on Sulawesi island in Indonesia. According to current reports, there was no news of any damages or causalities.
USGS has reported that the tremor was of 6.5 magnitude and the depth of the quake was 12.5 miles. Reports suggest that the tremor was felt for around fifteen minutes when the people were breaking their fast. No tsunami warning has been issued yet.
The United States Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reported that a tsunami was not brought forth by the tremor and Japan Meteorological Agency may reveal some additional infos regarding the earthquake.
