5th June, 2012, Sukabumi: On Monday, an earthquake hit Indonesia’s one of the most populated island. The quake was of 5.9 magnitude. There are no official reports of any casualties of damage. The quake hit 96 kms south-west of Sukabumi located in western Java at around 4.30 pm.
According to reports, the centre of the quake was 67 kilometers deep. Tall buildings, in Jakarta, also rocked because of the tremor. Country’s officials would see the affected region. An official told that there was no warning for tsunami and life in Sukabumi has gone back to normal. Eyewitnesses told that residents came out from their homes in affright. Another person told that when the quake took place he ran from their home with his family, but there was no damage at their home.
Earlier, the Indonesian Meteorological and Geophysics Agency measured the quake as a 6.1 magnitude with a depth of twenty-four kilometers.
