400 Same-Sex Marriages Registered In Mexico In 6 Months

Mexico City, September 07 — Six months after gay marriage became legal in Mexico City, about 400 same-sex couples have wed, said authorities on Monday.

53 percent of 398 same-sex marriages have been registered between men and the remaining 47 percent by women, said Mexican capital government on Monday.

Not only people from Mexico joined the trend of same-sex marriage in Mexico. 41 foreigners have joined from Europe, South America and some North American countries.

Most of the same-sex marriages are between the age of of 20 and 40. Four weddings were of couples of age group between 71 and 90.

The same-sex married couple can adopt children said the Supreme Court. With this law, it is one more big blow to the church, which had harshly condemned such marriages and also the adoption of children.
