ACCORDING TO A STUDY by a leading US think tank, India may get more terror attacks like 26/11 from Pakistan-based terrorist groups. India may continue facing serious jihadist threat and neither the policies of India or US can reduce the threat in near future.

Angel Rabasa, lead author of the study and a senior political scientist with RAND Corporation (non-profit research organization) also said that “Other extremist groups in Pakistan likely will find inspiration in the Mumbai attacks, and we can expect more attacks with high body counts and symbolic targets.”

The study also mentioned that there may be rise of a strategic terrorist culture. Moreover, there will be selection of multiple targets i.e. Americans, Britons and Jews and it will not only be focused on Kashmir as it was before.

The report said that Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment center of India and attacks on landmark properties amplified the psychological impact. What made the attack so alarming are not the ruthless killing alone, but the meticulous planning and preparation of the operation. The goal of the attack on 26/11 was not to slaughter people in numbers, but to target specific groups and facilities that have political, cultural and emotional value.
