Nagpur hottest in country at 42.6 C
Nagpur the “Orange” City was hottest in the country on Sunday, with the temperature soaring to 42.6 degree Celsius. The temperature surpassed even those in the northern Indian belt around New Delhi, Punjab, Haryana & Rajasthan, a belt known for scorching temperatures.
Vidarbha region felt the heat of the April sun on Sunday, with Brahmapuri & Akola registering 41.7 & 41.6 degrees centigrade respectively. Of the other major places in the Vidarbha region, Wardha and Yavatmal also crossed the 40 degree centigrade mark, while others places like Amravati, Washim & Gondia districts, the mercury lurked just a shade below the 40 degree Celsius mark.
Rajasthan & Punjab seemed relatively cold, with only Hissar in Haryana recording a temperature of exactly 40 degree centigrade. Otherwise, Kota, Udaipur, Bikaner & Jaipur districts in Rajasthan saw temperatures relatively below 40 degree Celsius mark. New Delhi recorded 37.5 degrees, while Amritsar was relatively comfortable at 34.2 degrees centigrade.
