Heavy snowfall continued in Jammu & Kashmir from 8 days cause fourteen deaths & two deaths in Qazigund. The sources said that there was a snow storm in Kajigund 80 km from Srinagar today early in the morning in which two people killed & 7 houses damaged & 40 buried under. Jammu Srinagar 300-km highway has still closed due to heavy snowfall from past six days. Twelve people, including a soldier & two army porters, died in avalanches in the snow-hit Kashmir valley & Doda district in Jammu. The snowfall also destroyed scores of houses, disrupted road communication, electricity & water supply facilities in many areas.Rescue operations have been started by army & others. The Vaishno Devi shrine is snowed under but pilgrims anywhere between five to ten thousand a day are determined to get to the temple on foot or on horsebacks. Snow stops Vashino Devi pilgrims. 32 people were rescued after being trapped in a snow avalanche at Gulabbagh on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway today.
