Thirty-seven year old Marissa Mayer edged out Ross Levinsohn, the acting chief executive officer only to be Yahoo’s 3rd CEO in a year. She expects to get the company in the right track and stem losses to Facebook and Google. With her hiring, Yahoo may turn its focus on web products and technology rather than strengthening online contents.

Marissa was Google’s 20th employee as well as the very first female engineer. She has guided a whole lot of Google’s business and also credited for projecting the simple and clean Google search interface which is still in use these days.

According to reports, the Yahoo board reached out to her in mid June and she was readily interested for the new post. She thinks that this is a very tough and competitive space and success is not guaranteed by any means. Her focus has always been end-users and great technology.
