22nd May, 2012, Washington: Well, now Google Chrome is the most popular internet browser in the world. According to current figures, Chrome has surpassed Internet explorer for the first time. After few years of tardily chipping away the market share of Internet Explorer, Chrome, with 32.76% share took the lead whereas Internet Explored went down to 31.94%.
About a year ago, IE was the most used web browser with 43% market share. After that it was Mozilla Firefox with twenty-nine percent and Google Chrome was at the third position with nineteen percent share. After 12 months, Internet explorer has lost twelve percent share while Chrome gained thirteen percent to the detriment of Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Firefox lost four percent of their market share and now stands at 25%.
This is not the very first time when Chrome has jumped over IE. In March, for a single day, Chrome climbed up the ladder leaving IE behind. But, this time, however, Google Chrome dominated Internet Explorer throughout the week.
While Chrome is the leading browser worldwide, Internet explorer still dominates the United States market with 37 percent. Chrome is at the 2nd spot with 23% share, closely followed by Firefox with 22%.
