On Thursday, Finnish handset manufacturer Nokia announced the launch of a couple of cost effective handsets, Nokia 101 dual SIM
music and Nokia 100 single SIM in India. The phones have been priced at Rs 1,699 and Rs 1,399 respectively. The phones will be available in the next few weeks and the phones are targeted to users who are price conscious and seek simplicity in their cell phones. Of late Nokia has been facing stiff competition from local cell phone manufacturers and also from established players. Therefore it is trying to consolidate its position in the Indian market by bringing in low cost feature phones.
V Ramnath, Nokia India Director (Sales) said that the company is consolidating its portfolio with feature rich and solid cell phones. He further added that when the phones are equipped with Nokia Life Tools and Nokia Money they offer a unique experience to users. Both the phones offer Nokia Life Tools and Nokia Money India which offers information on healthcare, agriculture and entertainment.
Nokia has joined hands with telecom operator Airtel to provide 100 minutes free A2A talk time for the first month for consumers buying these cell phones. Apart from it, users will also get 400 national and local SMS free every month.
