Last evening Mallojula Koteshvar Rao, the CPI (Maoist) leader, popularly known as Kishan’ji, was killed by the joint security forces in an encounter. According to the police, the person who is killed is 99 per cent Kishen’ji but they would not say anything officially, until it is 100 per cent confirmed that the killed man was Kishen’ji. If the killed person is Kishan, then its a massive breakthrough for the joint forces as well as the government of West Bengal.
Naparajit Mukherjee, the director-general of police (WB) stated that the dead body was found around 5.15 pm in the Burishole forest. A hearing aid, few SIM cards, around Rs.80000 cash and an AK-47 were found near the dead body. The body has been taken to the Midnapore town and the identification process has already been started. R.K Singh, the Union home secretary said to the journalists in Delhi that 99 percent its the Maoist leader, but they have told their men to be 100 per cent sure.
Police had information that Kishan’ji and Suchitra Mahato were hiding in the forest for the last few days. In last two days, forces had raided several nearby villages to catch the suspected duo. It was last evening that around 1000 jawans closed in on the suspected rebels.
After the incident, all the Maoist affected states have been asked to stay on high alert. Even the Indian Railways have been warned to keep their eyes open for any possible threat.
Varavara Rao and the mother of Kishen’ji have alleged that the rebel chief was killed in a fake encounter. Today, the Maoists have called for a West Bengal strike on 26th and 27th Nov and said that their leader was caught and killed in a thoughtful way, instead of an encounter. Deepa, the niece of Kishan’ji and poet and Maoist sympathizer Varavara Rao will be reaching West Bengal to identify the body.
