Trinamool Congress has already announced Subrata Bakshi’s name as their candidate for Calcutta-South by election and yesterday CPI(M) announced their candidate for the election to be held on 30th November. It was expected that the party will field a young and new face in this election and rightly so it was Ritabrata Banerjee, whose name was announced by the party.
Ritabrata Banerjee, the general secretary of the party’s youth wing told the reporters that the election is going to be the battle of ideologies and people will decide who will win or lose. He also stated that he will campaign and speak about the price rise and the failures of the UPA II government, which Trinamool Congress is a part of.
Calcutta-South constituency got vacant after Mamata Banerjee resigned from the seat after getting elected as an Assembly member. No matter what Ritabrata Banerjee campaign about, it is not going to be an easy task for him to win this seat. Last time, in 2009 Mamata Banerjee won the Lok Sabha election by 219541 votes. Right now, the most important job seems to be closing this huge gap so that they can score well in years to come.
