On Sunday, West Bengal Higher Education Minister Bratya Basu told that the state government is working on common codes for college elections. The aim of the common poll code is to make the election more disciplined.
On Monday, Bratya Basu is expected to meet the chairman of higher education council Sugata Marjit to chalk out the code details. The Higher Education Minister is hoping that the code will be ready in a month.
TMC supporters had assaulted the principal of Raiganj College on Thursday and on Saturday, SFI supporters beaten up the principal of Sudhir Ranjan Lahiri College. The code seems to be the immediate spark of these incidents. Even in last few years, college campuses across the state of West Bengal have seen violence during college elections.
