13th July, 2013, Dehradun: On Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna reiterated that those who are still missing following the 16th June calamity will be presumed dead of they are not found till 15th July. This decision was taken to help the families of the dead get the benefit.
In the mean time, rescue efforts are still on to find the missing people after most parts of the state was devastated by flash flood. Search operations were badly affected because of the bad weather in that region. Many worst effected areas are still under debris. Death toll may reach to 6000.
According to reports, the Uttarakhand government has decided that they would not provide any compensation to the family members of the victim who are not from Uttarakhand. State chief minister Vijay Bahuguna told that they would give compensation to those who are from the hill state. It was also reported that Bahuguna stated that victims from outside Uttarakhand will get their compensation from their respective state.
