Sonia-Mamata Flagged 12 New Trains From Kanpur

Kanpur, Feb. 07 — UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee shared a common platform by flagging off twelve new trains from Kanpur of Sunday. The trains including 2 Duranto and a Shatabdi, from the industrial city on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonia Gandhi asked all the political parties to leave behind petty politics and support the central government to take Uttar Pradesh on the road to development.

She said, “I want to place Uttar Pradesh on the trajectory of growth but it is possible only when all parties rise above petty politics and support the Central government.”

Sonia Gandhi also said that it was because of the UPA government policies that India was not so much affected by the financial meltdown of the world.

She mentioned, “The government ensured sufficient financial assistance to all states, though it is a different issue whether the funds were rightly utilised.”

The 12 new trains that were flagged off will be originating from different cities in the state and are of various destinations in the country.

About a month ago, railway minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the Centre over rising food prices and also the threat of Maoist in West Bengal.
