Gujarat has received sanction for 500 medical seats in 7 days time from the Medical Council Of India (MCI). It is to be noted that last Thursday it had received approval for 150 seats for Medical College in Sola and Adani Medical College in Bhuj. On Saturday, MCI approved 150 medical seats for a new medical college in Ahmedabad. 50 seats have been augmented in Medical College in Bhavnagar.

Commenting on the approval of 500 medical seats Jay Narayan Vyas, State Health Minister said that Gujarat in all probability will be the first state to get approval of 500 medical seats. He further said that the state is hoping for MCI’s approval of a new medical college at Gotri in Vadodara. He also said that they are getting offers from banks to open counters at admission centres where education loans can be obtained by candidates. Mr Vyas said that the state is ensuring that deserving candidate from Gujarat do not have to go to other states to get medical education.
