JHARGRAM, India: Maoists killed four security personal and looted arms in a surprise attack on Sunday in Jhargram sub-division of West Midnapore district. The incident took place at around 5:30 pm in this Naxal affected area.
According to the IG (Western Range), Kuldip Singh, the jawans of the Eastern Frontier Rifles were attacked at the time of patrolling near a police camp that is close to a school in Gidhni Bazaar area under the Jamboni police station.
The Maoists escaped easily after looting the arms and leaving the bodies of all the four jawans lying at the bazaar area.
Just before the incident chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and senior state government officials left West Midnapore district for Kolkata. Bhattacharjee was a two-day visit in the area.
Earlier on Saturday, hours before the arrival of chief minister, the Maoists killed three youths.
