BJP Heading To Form Jharkhand Government

by Sunil Sonkar

Jharkhand BJP, on Tuesday, in a fresh bid of breaking political stalemate in the state, currently under President’s rule, decided to stake claim in making a government partnering with AJSU and JMM.

Ajay Maroo, senior BJP leader said: “The party has decided to form a new government. Now, the BJP legislature party will elect a new leader after which we will seek an appointment from the Governor to stake claim.”

JMM and BJP split three months before after the cross voting by Shibu Shoren, JMM chief, in the Lok Sabha during Budget session cut motion in April brought by the Left parties and BJP.

Arjun Munda, former chief minister of Jharkhand, is likely to head the new government led by BJP. Legislature party leader Raghuvar Das quits his post for this.

Suprio Bhattacharya, spokesman of JMM said: “JMM has extended unconditional support to BJP’s initiatives to form a government.”

Praveen Prabhakar, vice-president of AJSU, said his five-member legislature party is also supporting the BJP.
