Curfew Extended In Kashmir, Air Services Suspended

Srinagar, September 14 — Curfew was extended Tuesday to all the major towns of the valley after the violent clashes that left 44 dead and 50 others injured.

As a precautionary measure in rise of bad security situation, to and from Srinagar air services have also been suspended for another three days.

In the Baramulla district’s Khanpora area mob defied curfew Tuesday morning and pelted stone on the security forces. In the protest, one person is reported to have been injured.

Since Sunday, the Srinagar city, Anantnag, Awantipora, Bijbehara, Lethpora, Pampore and Pulwama towns in south Kashmir and Sopore town are under curfew. New areas that are now put on curfew are Budgam town, Choon, Mirgund, Ompora, Narkara, Shekhpora, Humhama, I.G. Road, Gulwanpora, Nadir Gund, Chadoora and Wathoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

On Monday night mob took away all the belongings and bedding of police personnel from Khanabal-Pahalgam Road police post in Anantnag town and had set them on fire.

In the Budgam district’s Charier Sharief area, a vehicle of state police that carries troop was torched.

State cabined condemned Monday the alleged act of desecration and appealed to the people not to take law in their own hands.
