Debo Kumar Bora, ex- press advisor of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was killed when his car hit a stationary truck in Assam’s Golaghat district. Bora’s wife, son, driver and PSO sustained injuries in the mishap. According to sources, Bora was travelling to arrange a press conference for Gogoi in Jorhat. Bora’s wife, son, driver and PSO have been admitted to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital after the accident took place at around 2:20 am.
Meanwhile, Gogoi conveyed his condolence to the family of Bora. Bora had been working as a press advisor to Gogoi for a decade and Gogoi described him as a dedicated Congress worker. Bora had earlier served as an agriculture minister in the Prafulla Mahanta led AGP govt between 1985-91 and was also the editor of Assamese daily Dainik Janambhumi.
Following Bora’s death, poll drive in Jorhat district was cancelled with several political parties condoling his death. His body has been taken to his home town Titabor in Jorhat district.
