9^th July, 2012, London: On Sunday, Indian tennis ace Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina, his Russian partner, lost the Wimbledon mixed – doubles final to second seeded American pair Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond. The fourth seeded Indo – Russian pair lost the match by 3 – 6, 7 – 5, 4 – 6.

The American pair won the first set quite easily and was gliding towards victory, but Paes and Vesnina fought back strongly and won the second set 7 – 5. The American pair finished the Indo – Russian pair’s resistance and won the third set 6 – 4.

In the semi final, Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina defeated the top seeded pair of Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber by 7 – 5, 3 – 6, 6 – 3. On Friday, the Indo – Russian pair beat Paul Hanley and Alla Kudryavtseva to storm into the semi final.

This season, the pair of Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina reached the Australian Open final as well as the French Open semi final.
