by Tuhin

4th July, 2012, London: London based club Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that they have appointed Andre Villas Boas as their new coach. The former Chelsea coach has signed a three year contract with the club.villas picture

Villas Boas came as a strong contender after Tottenham sacked Harry Redknapp in June. Daniel Levy, the Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, has a series of interviews with Villas Boas and he was impressed by the former Chelsea coach.

Reports also suggest that Villas-Boas will have his own backroom team and he will also name an assistant coach. It is also expected that Daniel Sousa will come at the White Hart Lane as opposition scout and Mario Rocha as fitness coach.

The thirty-four year old coach spent an unsuccessful 8 months stint as Chelsea coach. He has a miserable time at the west London club when he had clashed with many senior members of the team. However, his 2010 – 11 season at the Portuguese club Porto was very successful. That season, he won 4 trophies.

The new Tottenham coach will meet the footballers next week for the pre season training before they go for their pre-season US tour. They will play their first EPL match on 18th August against Newcastle United.
