Steven Gerrard, the 31 year old midfielder, is all set to end his football career at Liverpool. On Thursday, Gerrard singed a new contract with the club. The deal was sealed less than twenty-four hour after securing the victory for the club in the first leg of Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
Gerrard has spent his entire football career at Anfield. He said that this is the club he loved and supported since he was a boy. He added that he is still living the dream as the captain of one of the world’s biggest clubs. After his career ends at Anfield, he will be working as an ambassador for the club.
In recent times, the midfielder had some fitness issues and he had appeared only ten times in last five months.
“I’m very happy. It’s a very proud day for myself and my family.” the England international quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“I love coming to work every day and the experiences I have had since I was eight years of age and first signed for the club, I wouldn’t change them for the world. To extend that and to hopefully have some more good times in a red shirt is what I want.” added Gerrard.
