8th June, 2012, Amsterdam: Ruud Gullit, the former Dutch footballer thinks that if the Euro 2012 comes down to Spain and Germany, then Germany will win. He also told that Holland has a good chance but if their coach can get the very best out of their footballers.
He added that Holland had some top attacking players like Robin van Persie, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart, Dirk Kuyt, Wesley Sneijder and Ibrahim Afellay, but the main problem is that they have not always found the right balance.
He would love to see Holland win, but he would prefer Germany if it is between Spain and Germany. And the reason he thinks its Germany because they are an exciting young team. It the last South Africa 2010 World Cup, Germany provided much entertainment. They have marvelous footballers like Mesut Ozil, Thomas Müller, Toni Kroos and Miroslav Klose. He also described Bastian Schweinsteiger as a rock. Even though he missed the penalty in the Champions League final against Chelsea, yet Gullit believes that he will be the same Schweinsteiger and he would fight back.
While speaking about England, he told that Roy Hodgson is experienced but he got little time to prepare his team for an event like this.
