by Tuhin

13th June, 2012, Wroclaw and Warsaw: On Tuesday, Russia’s expectation to be the very first team to secure a quarter-final spot in the Euro 2012 dashed as they drew 1 – 1 with Poland in their Group – A match. Dzagoev scored the only goal for Russia at the 37th minute. Blaszczykowski equalized for Poland after about 20 minutes.czech picture

After the match, Dick Advocaat, the Russia coach, told that Poland’s performance was good, and he is happy with one point. He also added that they need to strengthen their defense.

Earlier, in another match, Czech kept their hope to reach the quarter final alive as they defeated Greece 2 – 1 in Wroclaw. Jiracek hit the net for Czech Republic when it was only third minute into the game. Pilar made it 2 – 0 for Czech within six minutes. Gekas strike back for the Greeks in the second half, but still their performance was not good enough to dominate the team, whom they defeated in 2004 Euro final to lift the cup.

Now, it appears that co-host Poland has to beat Czech Republic in their last group match on Saturday. News form the Czech camp is not good at all as their captain Tomas Rosicky may not play in that match because of a probable Achilles tendon problem.
