16th August, 2012, London: Manchester United is ready to complete Robin van Persie’s signing from rivals Arsenal after both the clubs reached an agreement regarding the sale of the Dutch striker.
On Wednesday, both Premier League clubs brought out statements where they revealed that personal terms have not been finalized and a contract was subject to a medical exam. Both Arsenal and Manchester United have not disclosed the details of financial deals, but the England media reported that Arsenal asked for twenty million pounds for the Netherlands striker, who still has a year left in his deal.
On their website, Arsenal said in a statement, “Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.”
“Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move.”
Van Persie joined Arsenal in 2004 from Feyenoord. Last season, he was the top goal scorer of the English Premier League with thirty goals. Recently, he refused to sign a new deal with the club as he was not pleased with the direction Arsenal was heading.
Since 2005, the London club did not win any trophy and recently they failed to keep hold many top class footballers.
