21st July, 2012, London: Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson has now confirmed that the they had made a bid for Arsenal’s 29-year-old Netherlands striker Van Persie. Other top European clubs like Juventus and Manchester City were also interested to have Van Persie in their team.
While speaking to MUTV, the in-house television station, Alex Ferguson told, ‘Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we’ve made a bid for him. We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There’s no point talking about something that might not happen.’
‘There are other clubs interested in the player. We’ve shown an interest and that’s where we’re at the moment;’ added Ferguson.
Persie Arsenal career is in jeopardy after it came out that the Dutch footballer will not go to Malayasia with the rest of the squad for pre-season tour. According to reports, Juventus bid £ 10m, Manchester City bid £ 12m and United bid somewhere around £ 8million but Arsenal wants at least £ 20m for Persie who were the footballer of the year last season.
