India slipped down seven places in FIFA rankings

12th April, 2012, New Delhi: India Football team goes down 7 places in the current FIFA rankings brought out this month. The men in blue is now placed at 165th spot in the FIFA rankings and positioned at thirty-second in Asia.india football picture

Recently, in the Challenge Cup 2012, India put up a dismal performance in which they lost all the group league matches against DPR Korea, Philippines and Tajikistan without sending the ball into the opponent’s net for once.

In the previous rankings, released by FIFA, India went down to 158 from 154.  Among all the south Asian nations, Nepal is placed at 149th spot while Bangladesh is at 152nd spot and Maldives is staying ahead of India at 164th place.

Following their triumph in the Challenge Cup, DPR Korea is currently at 86th place. Tajikistan and Philippines are respectively placed at 131st and 148th spot.

Australia continues to hold the highest rank and sitting at the 21st spot whereas Japan and South Korea are placed at 30th and 31st position respectively.

Defending world champion Spain is still the number on ranked team in the world rankings. Germany has managed to climb one spot as they are placed at No. 2 and the Copa America champs Uruguay is at No. 3. World Cup runners up Netherlands is at 4th spot.
