12^th April, 2012, New Delhi: India Football team goes down 7 places in the current FIFA rankings brought out this month. The men in blue is now placed at 165^th spot in the FIFA rankings and positioned at thirty-second in Asia.

Recently, in the Challenge Cup 2012, India put up a dismal performance in which they lost all the group league matches against DPR Korea, Philippines and Tajikistan without sending the ball into the opponent’s net for once.

In the previous rankings, released by FIFA, India went down to 158 from 154.  Among all the south Asian nations, Nepal is placed at 149^th spot while Bangladesh is at 152^nd spot and Maldives is staying ahead of India at 164^th place.

Following their triumph in the Challenge Cup, DPR Korea is currently at 86^th place. Tajikistan and Philippines are respectively placed at 131^st and 148^th spot.

Australia continues to hold the highest rank and sitting at the 21^st spot whereas Japan and South Korea are placed at 30^th and 31^st position respectively.

Defending world champion Spain is still the number on ranked team in the world rankings. Germany has managed to climb one spot as they are placed at No. 2 and the Copa America champs Uruguay is at No. 3. World Cup runners up Netherlands is at 4^th spot.
