2nd July, 2012, Kiev: Defending Euro champ and World champ Spain once again proved their dominance last night in Kiev when they beat Italy 4 – 0 in the Euro 2012 semi finals. With this win, Spain became the very first team to with back to back Euro championship.
David Silva, the Manchester City striker opened the scoring for the defending champs as early as 14th minute. Spain, who was often accused of playing boring short passing football, played a fiery game last night and Italy did not have any answers to their game. Spain hit the net for the second time when Jordi Alba converted a brilliant pass from Barca midfielder Xavi Hernandez in 41st minute.
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who scored the lone goal in the 2008 Euro final against Germany, score the third goal with 6 minutes left in the game. His Chelsea teammate Juan Mata hit the net once again when it was 2 minutes left in the game.
The Azzurri were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute when they did not have any substitutes available for injured Thiago Motta. After the game, Barca striker Xavi told that they were superior in this match and they deserve to win this game. Spain played a complete game and probably the best in the entire Euro 2012 event.
Vicente del Bosque, the Spain coach, told that their team showed an extraordinary performance against a tough opponent. They played their own game and they had faith in their abilities.
