17th May, 2012, Barcelona: Ricard Pruna, the doctor of Barcelona FC has revealed that their striker David Villa may play for the national team at Euro 2012. The thirty year old Spaniard forward is in a rush against time so that he can take part in that showpiece event in this summer after sustaining an injury during the Club World Cup match in Japan.
Vicente del Bosque, the Spain coach, has denied to eliminate the scopes of including David Villa in the team for Ukraine and Poland and Ricard Pruna is hopeful that the forward can play for his country in Euro championship.
In a press conference, the medic told that David is doing ball work as well as recovery exercises. They have to wait for more weeks, but it is clear that he will not take part in the final game of Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao. In the forthcoming weeks, the doctors will decide whether he will join the national team and whether he may participate in this summer’s showpiece event.
When asked about Carles Puyol’s recovery, the doctor answered that he can play at the Euro 2012 and helps to defend their crown.
