2nd August, 2013, New Delhi: The All India football Federation extended their support for the IPL-style league as the executive committee agreed to arrange the event by its commercial partners IMG-Relliance.
On Thursday at the Football House, Football House gave a detailed presentation on the IPL-style league to the executive committee. All India football Federation president Praful Patel appeared to be impressed with plans.
Praful Patel told that I-League would sustain the Indian football, but this shirt league would be a big dose for Indian football. This event would help to take the game to the masses and make it popular in the country.
Earlier I-League clubs made it clear that they were not in favour of this proposed event. The AIFF President stated that there is no real issue among the AIFF, IMG-R and the I-league clubs. AIFF’s priority is I-League and it would remain so in future. The four vice-presidents have been given the responsibility to speak to the clubs and find an amicable solution to the issues.
