17th April, 2012, New Delhi: On Monday, Sahara India Pariwar stated that they will promote and financially help the volleyball in the country by sponsoring the men’s junior and senior national team for 4 years.
Along with cricket and hockey, Sahara already supports wrestling, boxing, shooting, archery, tennis, football and track and field game.
Subrata Roy, the chief of Sahara India Pariwar expected that this financial backing will help to motivate the volleyball players before the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Subrata Roy told that they see lot of scope to develop the game of Volleyball and therefore they have come forward to lend their support to the National Teams on the eve of Olympic 2012 so that these talented athletes are motivated to perform better to bring more laurels to the nation.
Volleyball Federation of India President B. Sivanthi Adityan told that they are honored and privileged to be associated with a sports loving and promoting group like Sahara. In a press release, he also added that they are quite confident this contract would encourage the volleyball players to perform better and also giving the federation a chance to build a strong Indian team for the forthcoming Qualifiers and other World Championships.
