5th March, 2013, New Delhi: Pakistan hockey team is all set to play five match hockey series against India that will start on 5th April and go on till 15th April. The five matches will be played in Ranchi, Lucknow, Delhi, Mohali and Jalandhar. In return, India is also supposed to play five matches in Pakistan, but their travel itinerary is still to get Ministry of External Affairs’ approval.
Last week, on the sidelines of the Asian Hockey Federation meeting in Malaysia, Hockey India and Pakistan Hockey Federation finalized the tour schedules.
Pakistan Hockey Federation stated that this series would help both the countries’ fans a good scope to witness hockey. During Hockey India League, some Pakistani hockey players were forced to return to Pakistan after protests following the recent tension between India and Pakistan armed forces at the LoC. But, Hockey India stated that this series would be big step forward for both the countries. This series is very important form the game’s point of view. HI also expected that there would be no problems during the series.
It was in 2006, when the India – Pakistan bilateral series took place. Three matches were played in each country; Pakistan won three mates when India just managed to win one match.
