25th January, 2013, New Delhi: The first edition of the Hero HIL (Hockey India League) has handed a really cheerful scenario for the broadcaster as the first 6 matches of the event have drawn a record viewership of 1.46 core.
According to reports, the research agencies shared a data that shows that the viewership for the first 6 games is around 1.7 times more compared to the first 6 matches of the 2012 UEFA Euro championship. In fact, this is the best ‘ratings’ result that any hockey tournament has achieved in India.
Earlier, the WSH (World Series Hockey) garnered a 0.63 crore viewership at the end of its 1st week. In 2012, the Men`s Hockey Champions Trophy had registered a 058 crore viewership even though India made it to the semi finals of that event.
The first six match of 2012 UEFA Championship drew a 0.85 crore viewers whereas the Hockey India League registered a viewership of 1.46 crore in its first 6 matches.
