16th April, 2012, Shanghai: Finally, after 111 Grand Prix starts, German Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg got his first victory in Chinese Grand Prix here in the Shanghai International Circuit, on Sunday. The weekend was really a perfect one for both Rosberg as well as for Mercedes team. The twenty-six year old German driver started from the pole position with his team-mate Michael Schumacher on the second place of the first row. Mercedes’ hopes of a double podium finish dashed after the 7 time world champ Schumacher had to leave the race because of a pit-stop error.
McLaren’s Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton took the second and third position respectively. Mark Webber of Red Bull finished the race in 4th position and current world champion Sebastian Vettel took the 5th position.
After this incredible win, Rosberg told, “Unbelievable feeling, very cool, very happy, very excited. It’s been a long time coming for me and the team also. It’s amazing, and it’s really nice to see how quickly we are progressing, I didn’t expect to be that fast.”
“Thanks to whole team for working very hard also, and for improving the set-up. I was struggling in first two races with race pace but here it came good.” added the winner.
