Red Bull’s Vettel snatched the pole in Spa

by Tuhin

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel snatched the Pole position for Sunday’s race at the Spa Francorchamps Circuit, here in Belgium. This is the 9th pole Picture Of Sebastian Vettelfor the defending champion, for this season. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who set the fastest lap in Q2, took the second position, after a thrilling qualifying round. Red Bull’s another driver Mark Webber, who set the fastest lap in Friday’s practice session, made it to the third position in the grid while Ferrari’s Felipe Massa came fourth.

The qualifying session did not go well for the former seven times World Champ Michael Schumacher, who made his debut in this circuit 20 years ago, of Marcedes. During the Q1 Schumacher’s right rear tire came off the car and therefore he had to retire. During the Q2 Hamilton involved in two collisions with the Williams rookie Maldonado. Hamilton said over the team radio that his car was hit deliberately. Maldonado got five grid penalty for collision with Hamilton and Hamilton just received a warning. No good news for Indian Formula 1 fans, as Force India drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta took the 15th and 18th position consecutively.

If you look at the past results, only three times pole sitters have won the race in this circuit since 1991. But history is history. We can certainly expect an exciting race in Spa Francorchamps. As far as Red Bull’s performance is concerned it does not seem like they are going to lose.
