27th June, 2013: On Thursday Red Bull driver Mark Webber stated that he would leave Formula One after the end of this season. From next year, he will join Porsche and compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours as well as in the sports car World Endurance Championship.
According to reports, Mark Webber said in a statement that it is really an honor to be a part of Porsche at its return to the top category in Le Mans and in the sports car World Endurance Championship. He is looking forward to the new challenge after his time in the F1 circuit. The Aussie added that Porsche would undoubtedly set itself very high goals and he could not wait to pilot one of the fastest sports cars in the world.
At present, Mark Webber in the 5th spot in the F1 drivers’ world championship standings. His departure from Red Bull would free a place in the team and it would be really interesting to see who fills that vacant place.
