Few days ago, Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone hinted that Indian Grand Prix would not happen in 2014 and the reason was ‘very political.’
India made it Formula 1 debut in 2011. In 2011 and in 2012, the Grand Prix took place in the last wekend of October. In this year, the race is scheduled for 27th October.
The Indian race organizers has a contract till 2015. Since the race would not take place next year; therefore, another race will take place in 2016 to make it up for the lost year.
According to reports, a Jaypee Sports International Limited official stated that October – November period suits them better weather wise and it is also festive season in India, but if Formula One Management wants them to hold the India leg race in March, 2015; but they do not have any problem with that.
